Crispy Chilli Garlic Tofu Fries

Learn how to make crispy chilli garlic tofu fries in an air fryer at home. This Indian-Chinese-style tofu recipe is sweet, spicy, crunchy and so flavourful. It can be made quickly and is ideal for parties and get-togethers.

Ingredients
  

  • For the tofu fries:
  • 250 g tofu
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1.5 tbsp cornflour
  • Salt and pepper as per your liking
  • For the chilli garlic sauce:
  • 1.5 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp chopped garlic
  • 1 tsp chopped ginger
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp green chilli sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp cornflour
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 tbsp spring onion
  • ½ tsp sesame seeds
  • Sesame seeds for garnishing
  • Spring onion for garnishing

Instructions
 

  • Cut the tofu into thin and long slices.
  • Transfer them to a bowl.
  • Add oil. Give them a quick mix.
  • Add cornflour, salt and pepper. Toss gently.
  • Transfer to a preheated air fryer.
  • Cook at 200-degree Celsius for 15-20 minutes or until they are golden and crisp.
  • In a bowl, add cornflour and water. Mix well. Keep aside.
  • Heat a pan over medium flame.
  • Add oil. Allow it to heat up.
  • Add garlic and ginger. Cook until the garlic becomes golden.
  • Add soy sauce, chilli sauce, tomato ketchup, vinegar, sugar and salt. Mix well. Cook until sugar dissolves.
  • Pour the cornflour slurry. Mix well. Cook until the sauce thickens.
  • Add tofu, spring onion and sesame seeds. Toss well.
  • Transfer to a bowl.
  • Garnish with spring onion and sesame seeds.
  • Serve immediately.
