
Chana Dal Puran Poli Recipe With Jaggery

Serves: 8 small puran poli
Ingredients:
For the dough:
1 cup whole wheat flour
½ cup all-purpose flour
¼ tsp turmeric
¼ tsp salt, or to taste
1 tbsp ghee
Water, for kneading
For the stuffing:
¾ cup chana dal
¾ cup jaggery powder
2 tsp ghee
½ tsp green cardamom powder
½ tsp nutmeg powder
Water, for pressure cooking dal
Instructions:
Rinse and soak chana dal in water for 6-8 hours.
To make the dough:
In a bowl, add wheat flour, all-purpose flour, turmeric, salt, ghee and water. Mix well.
Knead to make a soft dough. Apply ghee, cover it with a damp cloth. Keep aside.
To make the stuffing:
Take the chana dal, drain the water, and transfer the dal to a pressure cooker.
Pour water. Pressure cook until the dal has fully cooked.
Transfer the cooked chana dal to a pan.
Add jaggery. Mix well.
Mash the dal until it becomes smooth.
Add ghee, cardamom powder and nutmeg powder. Mix well.
Continue cooking, while stirring continuously, until the water evaporates and the mixture becomes dry.
Allow it to cool down.
To make puran poli:
Divide the dough and the stuffing into small balls.
Take a dough ball. Flatten it. Add the stuffing. Bring the edges together and seal it.
Apply ghee on the rolling surface.
Place dough ball, flatten it out with your.
Then roll it out using a rolling pin.
Heat a tawa over medium flame.
Transfer it to the tawa.
Toast both sides well.
Apply ghee and cook both sides until golden in colour.
Make the rest of the puran poli in the same manner.
Serve them hot with ghee.
