Veg Tawa Masala Sandwich Recipe
Looking for a vegetarian high-protein sandwich recipe without paneer? Then try this veg tawa masala sandwich recipe with Tempayy/Tempeh. This Indian-style veg sandwich is very easy to make and is a great recipe for breakfast.
You can use any kind of sandwich maker. I have used an electric sandwich maker. You can also use a grill sandwich maker or a non-electric gas toast maker.
What is Tempeh?
Tempeh is a new vegetarian protein made by fermenting whole non-GMO soybeans. It has more protein than paneer and tofu. And has 10x less saturated fat than paneer. For this recipe, I’m using Tempeh cubes from Hello Tempayy.

Prep Time: 5 min | Cook Time: 25 min | Total Time: 30 min
Serves: 2 sandwiches
Ingredients:
4 bread slices
200g tawa masala Tempayy cubes
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
½ cup onion, chopped
Salt to taste
½ cup water
Oil, for brushing
Method:
Heat oil in a pan over medium flame.
Add cumin. Cook until fragrant.
Add chopped onion. Cook until it softens.
Add salt and mix well.
Add the tawa masala-flavoured Tempayy cubes. Cook for a minute.
Mash the cubes. Pour water and mix well.
Cook until the water evaporates completely.
Add this mixture over a slice of bread. Spread it out. Cover with another slice of bread.
Apply oil on the sandwich maker plates.
Place the sandwiches. Apply oil over the top of the sandwiches.
Close the sandwich maker. Cook until golden and crisp.
Serve them hot with tomato ketchup!

- Apply oil on the sandwich maker plates.
- Place the sandwiches. Apply oil over the top of the sandwiches.
- Close the sandwich maker. Cook until golden and crisp.
- Serve them hot with tomato ketchup!
