Prep Time: 5 min | Cook Time: 25 min | Total Time: 30 min
Serves: 1 burger
Ingredients:
For the paneer:
1 cup chhena or grated paneer
1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp butter
¾ cup (1 large) onion, chopped
½ tbsp garlic, chopped
1 tsp ginger, chopped
¾ cup (1 large) tomato, chopped
1 tsp pav bhaji masala
½ tsp coriander powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
¼ tsp red chilli powder
Salt to taste
Freshly chopped coriander leaves, as per your liking
For the bun:
1 bun, sliced horizontally
2 tsp butter
½ tsp pav bhaji masala
Freshly chopped coriander leaves, as per your liking
Method:
To make the paneer filling:
Heat a pan over medium flame. Add oil and butter. Allow the butter to melt.
Add chopped onion. Give it a good stir. Keep cooking until the onions turn translucent.
After that add chopped garlic and ginger. Mix well. Cook until the raw smell goes away.
Then add chopped tomato. Combine well. Cook the tomatoes until they become mushy. You can also mash them a little with the spatula (palta).
Add pav bhaji masala, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt. Mix well. Cook for a minute or until the oil separates.
Then add chhena. Give it a good mix.
As the chhena is fresh, it will release a lot of water. So, cook it for a few minutes until all the water has evaporated. Turn the flame off.
Add chopped coriander leaves and give a good mix. Keep the paneer filling aside.
To toast the buns:
Heat a tawa over a medium flame. Add butter and pav bhaji masala. Mix well.
Add chopped coriander leaves.
Place both slices of the burger bun on the tawa. Toast both sides well.
To assemble the paneer burger:
Place the bottom slice of the bun on the serving plate.
Add the paneer filling. Spread it with a spoon. Gently press and shape it into a patty.
Place the other slice over the top.
