How To Cook White Rice
Learn how to cook white rice in a pot. Follow these 5-steps (with pictures) and get perfectly cooked, fluffy and non-sticky basmati rice every time.
This is a simple step-by-step tutorial of how to cook white rice without rice cooker or microwave. It just requires a pot, a strainer and rice. You can take any kind of rice. Here I have used white basmati rice. It is first washed in running water, drained and soaked in water for about half an hour. Then the rice is cooked in boiling water until fully done. The ratio between rice and water is usually 1:2. But if you are using brown rice then the ratio changes to 1:3. Serve it hot with any curry like Dhaba-Style Egg Curry, Bengali Chingri Malai Curry or Kashmiri Dum Aloo.
Prep Time: 30 minutes | Cook Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 45 minutes
