Total Time: 15 minutes
Serves– 2 people
Ingredients:
- 2 cups fusilli pasta
- 10 cups water
- 2 tbsp salt
Cooking Directions:
Fill a large pot with water and heat it on high flame. Once it comes to a boil, add salt.
Allow it to come to a boil and then add the pasta. Give it a stir and cook it uncovered. It may take 10-15 minutes.
Keep the flame high and stir frequently to prevent them from sticking together. Pasta should be al dente or firm to the bite. So start checking the pasta’s doneness.
Before draining the pasta, save 1-2 cups of the cooking water. The starch in the water helps in binding the sauce and pasta together. It also helps in adding body to the sauce.
Pour the pasta into a colander, allow it to sit for a minute and then stir it into the sauce of your choice. Add the reserved pasta water if you like. But if you are making pasta salad, then after draining the pasta rinse it with cold water.
Now you know how to cook pasta perfectly!
Notes:
- Always use a large pot and fill it with plenty of water. This prevents the pasta from sticking.
- Do not add oil to the water as it would prevent the sauce from clinging to the pasta.
- Cooking time may vary according to the shape or type of pasta.
- After draining the pasta don’t rinse it with cold water, unless you are making a pasta salad.
